For three days in the shadow of the Gallatin Range and at the gates of Yellowstone, we trade the inbox for the alpine. The inaugural CIO Ascent retreat. A gathering of peers and a few partners. No panels. Just CIOs and the time and space to think clearly, share honestly, and come home sharper than you left.

For Wednesday-night arrivals. Forested switchbacks in Hyalite Canyon past three waterfalls: Grotto, Arch, and Champagne. Routinely called the prettiest hike in the Bozeman area.

Two hikes inside America's first national park at peak elk rut. Beaver Ponds loop above Mammoth, then Slough Creek to the First Meadow, one of the premier wolf, bison, and grizzly watching spots in Yellowstone.

History Rock

Aspen-lined climb in Hyalite Canyon to a sandstone outcropping carved with names and dates from late-1800s pioneers and homesteaders. A hike with a story, and a sweeping overlook of Hyalite Reservoir from the top.

    Arrivals, optional Hyalite Falls Tour for early birds, afternoon Drinking Horse warmup hike, welcome event with the Board.

    Yellowstone Country

    Beaver Ponds loop above Mammoth, lunch at Roosevelt Lodge, Slough Creek to the First Meadow at peak elk rut.

  • Sat Sept 19

    History Rock + Ousel Falls

    Pioneer-carved sandstone overlook in Hyalite Canyon, hotel reset, waterfall walk in Big Sky, closing session.

    Return Day

    Farewells and departures on your schedule.

Full day-by-day schedule shared with confirmed attendees closer to the retreat.

A note on ad-hoc side excursions

Free time on the schedule is intentional. The best moments of these retreats come from what we invent together in the moment.

Hot springs. A night drive to look at the Milky Way. A local brewery. Downtown Main Street. Members tell the crew where they want to go and we make it happen.
